My dog Food Rant
Hi there. I currently have 3 dogs, and am constantly reading dog food reviews. All large breed all “normal” active.(1 walk a day, average 12 hrs yard time, they do allot of playing together we generally do another 30mins or so of tug and chase as well as general “house manners” upkeep) Anyways i have a “bully style” pit he is 80-90lbs expect him to grow to 100-115lbs. I have a GreatDane-Doberman mix about 80lbs….not sure how his growth is going to go…mother was 75lbs(dobie) Father was 190-210lbs(GreatDane 6’1”). Last i have a rednose pit she is only 50lbs but ravenous(i feed her 1/3cup more then recommended and she still trys to steal from the others) and all muscle she is more active then the others. We also take needy dogs in as well as cats(we have 2 cats of our own too) What I’m getting at by explaining is we have found ourselves in the tightening grasps of a more restrictive budget. I however don’t want to sacrifice our dogs health because of it. They were all rescues and i want them to be as healthy and happy as possible for as long as possible. Chondroitin and Glucosamine are important to me in their food as well as not having too large of a fat content since it can be bad off on Danes. I’m open to anything as long as it can be achieved more inexpensively and contains what my dogs need. They are on Precise now they have been on Chicken Soup for the Large Breed soul and Pure Vita. The prices keep going up on all of them we are at $45/week…we need to cut that down whatever bit we can. They are not picky. they are all just over 1yr old. We pay $61 a bag for 30lb bag Precise LB dog. Chicken Soup LB dog is about $46 35lb bag. Pure Vita is a 30lb bag and is about $72 now. (You have to feed more of the Chicken Soup food at each feeding so it works out to relatively the same$ as precise.)
