They were given a Child Benefit Award notice as proof of them being awarded for getting Child Benefits. They were also given a child benefit number to be used in the future when they decide to get another child benefit.

It would also help you with less hassle on filing for another child benefit for it would be enough to state the number on the claim form without needing to bring the child’s birth or adoption certificate with the tax credits claim form. Mr. and Mrs. Romeo kept the papers, took note of the number and decided to get another child benefit in the future.
